In re JOHN KICKHAM. DECEASED. In the name of God Amen, I John Kickham of Saint John*s in the Island of Newfoundland being rather weak in my bodily health but of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make this my last will and testament in form and in manner following viz I first will and bequeath my immortal soul into the hands of the Almighty God who gave it and next I bequeath my body to the earth to be entered in a decent and Christian like manner and all my just and lawful debts to be paid I next will and bequeath to my beloved wife Ellen Kickham all my interest in the rents arising out of the houses and tenements erected by me on the ground I have rented from Hugh Heaney and Thomas Bearns and also the dwelling house I now occupy for her sole use and benefit and all my furniture goods and chattels during her natural life or to the end of the leases of these premises to me she the said Ellen Kickham to have the letting of said premises and the receiving of the rents of said houses and the land thereunto belonging and the profits arising therefrom without the control or interference of any person whatsoever, and should my beloved wife Ellen Kickham not survive to the expiration of the above named leases from Hugh Heaney and Thomas Bearns then after her death and her funneral expence and other charges are paid off I will and bequeath the interest arising out of the said houses land and premises aforesaid to be paid over during the remainder of the lease to the Right Revd Dr. Mullock or his successor for to have Masses said for the eternal welfare of the souls of John and Ellen KickhamAnd also I will and bequeath the sum of twenty shillings curry to be paid annually by Ellen Kickham during her lifetime to the Benevolent Irish Society for my soul sale and the same amount payable annually after her decease during said lease by the receivers of the property and also I order my said wife Ellen Kickham at all times after my decease to keep the said property insured in at least the sum of two hundred pounds. And also I order nominate and appoint my beloved wife Ellen Kickham after my decease to have the sole management and controul of my brother Charles Kickhams Estate for her to receive the rents and let the premises according to her judgment to the best advantage until the said estate will pay up and put her in funds to pay off the amount will be due to Mary Kickham widow of Charles Kickham after my decease and also to pay up to me the amount will be due me according to my books at the time of my death she keeping said property also insured during said term and when she is paid off the aforesaid demand in full I then order and will her the said Ellen Kickham to deliver over to my beloved son Charles Kickham Junr all my papers containing my brother Charles Kickham*s will in his estate for him the said Charles Kickham Jr to have all the interest thereon as I had during my life according as said will specifies and transfers to him for him the said Charles Kickham Junr to manage as he think proper according to his wishes and those of the parties concerned. And also I order and direct the said Ellen Kickham when she has been paid up in full Mary Kickham*s demand and my own demand according to my books from Charles Kickham*s estate I order and direct her the said Ellen Kickham to place the said amount of money in the Savings Bank arising from said Estate and to be placed to her credit and to remain there untill she is in need to draw any part of the same and after her death I will and bequeath to the Right Revd Doctor Mullock or his successor all the money she may have remaining in the Bank for the benefit and eternal welfare of the souls of the aforesaid John and Ellen Kickham, and also I order and direct Mrs. Ellen Kickham to have a high Mass said for my immortal soul after my death and to have a decent tomb erected in the cemetry to the memory of my brother Charles Kickham and John and Ellen Kickham. And also I will nominate empower and appoint my beloved wife Mrs. Ellen Kickham to have the sole management of the business of this my last will and testament executed.
