In re: JOHN CLIFT HILL. DECEASED
Know all men by these Presents that I John Clift Hill of Saint John's Newfoundland (Surveyor) being of Sound Mind and memory do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament I give and bequeath to my wife Jane Hill for her maintenance and support and for the maintenance and support of my two daughters Emma Louise Hill and Eliza Jane Curran as long as they remain unmarried before my wifes death, all my Estate consisting of my interest in a farm of land situate at Windsor lake on the north side of the Portugal Cove road and my interest in two dwelling houses situate in Hoylestown in the town of Saint John's held under Lease from the Crown also my interest in a dwelling house in Cochrane Street held under Lease from Ellis Estate and all my household furniture and all other property or money belonging to me at the time of my death. Also the amount of money that may be due me at the time of my death from the Masonic Life Assurance Association, and the Newfoundland British Society. I bequeath to my wife.
All my just debts and funeral expenses shall be paid for out of my Estate. And when my wife dies she shall be decently and respectably buried and expenses paid out of my Estate.
After my wifes death my Estate shall be distributed as follows to my two sons John Hill and William Thomas Hill. I bequeath all my interest in that farm of land beforementioned on the north side of the Portugal Cove Road at Windsor Lake with the Cottage, and all other erections thereon with the Cattle and farming implements to be divided equally between them only reserving two rooms in the Cottage for the use of my two daughters. Emma Louisa Hill and Eliza Jane Curran in the summer season as long as they remain unmarried (they shall have no claims after) this shall not debar my sons from letting or selling the property if they wish to do so at any time
I give and bequeath to my daughter Emma Louisa Hill all my interest in the dwelling house in Cochrane Street held under lease from Ellis Estate also all my household furniture.
I give and bequeath to my sons John Hill and William Thomas Hill and my daughter Eliza Jane Curran all my interest in the property situate in Hoylestown held under lease from the Crown the income there from to be divided equally between them
I appoint my sons John Hill and William Thomas Hill Executors to this my last will and Testament In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this eighteen day of September A.D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety six John Clift Hill Signed by the said Testator John Clift Hill as for his last will and Testament in presence of us at the same time, at his request in his sight and presence and in presence of each other subscribed our names as attesting witnesses Samuel James McNeill Andrew George M.
