In re
  John Cahill deceased. This is the last will and testament of me John Cahill of Saint John’s Master Mariner, I bequeath all my estate real and personal to my executors hereinafter named upon trust to hold and apply the same for and to the following bequests. I desire that of the monies now belonging to me and deposited in the Newfoundland Savings Bank the sum of four thousand dollars be invested in Government or other public securities. I desire that out of the interest upon said investments and the interest upon stock held by me in the General Water Company there be paid to my stepsister Mary Sullivan the sum of two hundred dollars per annum during her life. I desire that my said stepsister shall also during her life possess and occupy the dwelling house now occupied by me situate on the Kings Road Saint John’s. I desire that upon the death of my said stepsister the said dwelling house now occupied by me shall go to George Forward son of John and Mary Forward absolutely and the adjoining tenement now occupied by a tenant shall go to John Forward son of said John and Mary Forward absolutely. I desire that after providing for the said annuity to my said stepsister the residue of the yearly interest arising from the said investments and Water Company Stock and after the death of my said stepsister the whole of the said annual interest and income shall be equally divided among the children of John and Mary Forward namely George, William, John, Katie, Alexander and Henry and Eliza daughter of Philip and Eliza Williams. I desire that upon the death of any of the said last named legatees his or her share shall go to the survivors of them and that the last survivor shall take the whole of the principal monies and stock and investments for his or her use absolutely. I appoint George Forward of St. John’s and George Hutton of the same place executors of this my will I desire that my said executors shall cause two Masses to be said annually for the good of my soul to be paid out of and to be a first charge upon the annual interest on investments before distribution.
