IN RE: JOHANNA WALSH DECEASED
This is The last will and Testament of Johanna Walsh of Torbay Newfoundland. In the name of God. Amen. I Johanna Walsh of Torbay, Newfoundland, wife of Thomas Walsh being of sound mind and memory do hereby make, publish and declare this my last will and Testament in manner following that is to say
First. I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions made by me.
Second. I direct my Executor hereinafter appointed to pay my lawful debts and my funeral and testamentary expenses and to erect a suitable headstone upon my grave and to place an iron fence or railing around my grave.
Third. I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Walsh my dwelling house and all it contains: my barn, outhouses and their contents, horses, cattle, farming implements, carts, carriages and all other chattels of all kinds of which I may die possessed; also all lands and premises of which I may die possessed.
Fourth. I give and bequeath to the parish priest of Torbay holding office at the time of my death the sum of one hundred dollars, to have one office and High Mass for the repose of my soul the remainder of said bequest to have Low Masses.
Fifth. I give and bequeath a similar sum of one hundred dollars to the priest in charge of the parish of St. Patrick's, Riverhead St. John's at the time of my death for a similar purpose.
Sixth. I give and bequeath a similar sum of one hundred dollars to the parish priest at Portugal Cove, St. John's at the time of my death for a similar purpose. Seventh. I give and bequeath all the residue of my estate to my son Thomas Walsh.
Eighth. I wish it to be distinctly understood that my husband Thomas Walsh who has been separated from me for Thirty-one years shall receive no part of my estate.
Ninth. I hereby appoint John Fitzpatrick of St. John's Shopkeeper to be Executor of this my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand the 16 day of February in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and ten. Johanna her x mark Walsh Signed by the said Johanna Walsh and published and declared by her as and for her last will and Testament in our presence, who in her presence and in the presence of each other and at her request have hereunto subscribed our hands as witnesses the day and year first above written, the said will having first been read over and explained to the said Johanna Walsh in our presence and she seeming to understand and approve of same. This will consists of two Typewritten sheets each of which was signed by the Testatrix in our presence 1st witness Augustine Thorne 2nd witness Michael Finn
