  Joseph Carew deceased. This is the last will and testament of me Joseph Carew of Saint John’s Newfoundland, Cooper. I give devise and bequeath my three dwelling houses and my interest in the coopers shop situate in St. John’s and also all and singular my household furniture goods chattels property and effects and all moneys that may be in my hands or in the Banks at the time of my decease unto my wife Johanna Carew to have and to hold the same for ever And I hereby appoint my said wife executrix of this my last will and testament. Witness my hand and seal at St. John’s Newfoundland this twenty-sixth day of January A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty two. Joseph Carew (LS) Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses, F.E.M.
