James Cantwell deceased. In the name of God Amen. I James Cantwell of Saint John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Accountant being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner following: First I resign my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping and believing in a remission of my sins by the merits of my Redeemer And my body I commit to the earth to be deceantly buried And my worldly estate I give and bequeath as follows:- I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Joseph Cantwell, to my son Joseph Cantwell, to my daughters Elizabeth Cantwell, Ellen Cantwell, Johanna Cantwell and Mary Cantwell, all the rents issues and profits that may hereafter arise accrue or become due of and from that certain stone dwelling house and premises with the appurtenances situate on the south side of Duckworth Street in the town of Saint John’s aforesaid the said premises being now in my possession to be applied to and for the sole use and benefit of my aforesaid children their and each of their heirs and assigns for ever share and share alike. Also I give devise and bequeath to my said sons Thomas Joseph Cantwell and Joseph Cantwell and to my daughters Elizabeth, Ellen, Johanna and Mary aforesaid all my household stuff and furniture beds and bedding share and share alike and also I give devise and bequeath my silver watch to my said son Thomas Joseph. All the rest and residue of my personal property whatsoever and wheresoever and what nature kind and quality the same may be and not herein before given and disposed of after payment of my just debts and funeral expenses I do give devise and bequeath to my said children aforesaid share and share alike and I do hereby constitute and appoint John Cantwell sole executor to this my last will hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made declaring this to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Saint Johns aforesaid this eighth day of April A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy seven.
