         James Long deceased

In the name of God Amen.     I James Long of Saint John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Shop-keeper do hereby declare the following to be my last will and testament, namely-     First I will and direct that my executor and executrix hereinafter named shall after my death pay all lawful debts, funeral and testamentary expenses due by me or my estate-     Second, I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Anastatia Long all my money Bank stock, money in Bank or elsewhere and all my goods chattels and effects and all my lands tenements and property of every description whatsoever of every description whatsoever both real and personal wheresoever situate for her absolute use benefit and disposal.     Third. It is my will and desire that my said beloved wife shall and will on taking and enjoying the bequest aforesaid and all my said property money assets and effects so left to her as aforesaid make and execute her last will and testament in writing and thereby leave and bequeath such residue of said money assets property and effects as shall be remaining at her death, in trust for the support and maintenance of my son John Long (as far as the same shall or may extend) to and towards his support for and during his natural life and that should there be any residue or balance of said money property assets or effects thereafter remaining unappropriated or unexpended that she shall and will bequeath and leave the same in trust for Masses for the benefit of the souls of me the said James Long and of her the said Anastatia Long and the soul of him the said John Long.     Fourth. I do hereby revoke all former wills made by me and I do hereby appoint my said beloved wife executrix and Mr. John Culliton, executor of this my last will and testament.     As witness my hand at Saint John’s in the said Island this first day of October Annoque Domini one thousand eight hundred and sixty three-     James Long.     Signed executed and declared by the said James Long as and for his last will and testament in our presence on the day and year last aforesaid, Jno.
