Will of James Hickey

In re: JAMES HICKEY DECEASED

In the name of God Amen The last will and testament of James Hickey of Outer Cove in the Estren district of St. John’s in the island of Newfoundland Fisherman made this day March the thirty first in the year of our lord one thousan eighe hundred and ninty eight. I James Hickey afore said now in a sound mind and memory but in a very imperfect state of bodly strent and health and knowing that it is apointed for man once to die I do hereby make my last will and testament to dispose of my land and property after my det as follows

I do will and bequeath to son David Hickey the house and barn horse and carts and one cow and two hefers and that Parcel of land from the old seler to David Roches bounds I also leave to my son David Hickey my fishing room and my sammon nets my son David is to suport his mother and his two sisters whilst they wish to remane with him.

I also do will and bequeath to my Dauther Maryan my new house and the land that the fence is all round the house with the garden up to the old seller I do also will and bequeath to my two daughters Maryann and lisey hickey that Parcel of land on the south side of the road ladeing to the beech If any of them would lave the country the land would remane in Posetion of the other but if the two of them would lave the country and remane away for ten yiers then the house and lands will be my son David Hickeyes If my son David would lave the Country and never return then the lands and all my Property would bee my two daughters Maryanne and lisey Hickey I Do hereby apoint Martin Roche of Outer Cove to be my executer of my will to see and do to the best of his ebility to arange maters between my family James Hickey x Martin Roche x (sgd) David Roach x
