In re: JAMES CULLEN. DECEASED.

In the name of God Amen. I James Cullen of Saint John's in the Island of Newfoundland Shop-Keeper do make the following as my last will and testament.

First, I will and desire that my executors shall out of my assets pay all just debts due by me.

Secondly, I give and bequeath to my three daughters Sarah, Mary and Catherine Cullen, my three houses and the ground thereunder and thereto belonging in Queen Street in St. John's to have and to hold to them and their assigns for ever together with ten shares in the Saint John's Gass Company to take and hold the same share and share alike free of the control of any husband or husbands they shall at any time marry.

Thirdly, I give and bequeath unto my son William Cullen and to his heirs and assigns the lands and houses belonging to me on the Barrens in St. John's.

Fourthly, I give and bequeath to my three sons James, John and Matthew Cullen and to their heirs and assigns all the other landed property belonging to me namely the house in which I live and the ground thereto belonging and the house and land at River Head in St. John's To have and to hold to them as tenants in common and not as joint tenants share and share alike the said land and premises to be held in trust for them by my executors hereinafter named until they shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years.

Fifthly, I will and bequeath all my stock in trade and cash and household effects to my beloved wife Mary Cullen and my son William Cullen to carry on the trade as hitherto for the support and maintenance of my said wife three sons, namely, James, John and Matthew, and my said three daughters until such time as they shall marry or be otherwise provided for.

Sixthly, I will and bequeath that in the event of my said wife Mary Cullen getting married again she shall have and take from my said executors out of the stock in trade belonging to my estate, the sum of thirty pounds currency per annum during her natural life. Lastly, I do hereby appoint John Little and Philip F. Little of St. John's, Barristers-at-law my executors to see this my will carried into effect and I do hereby revoke all former and other wills made by me.
