IN RE: JAMES BARTER. DECEASED Will of James Barter.
I, James Barter, Boiler Maker of St. John's in the Dominion of Newfoundland, of the age of Sixty One years, of sound mind and memory, do make, and declare this my first and last will and testament in the manner following: That is to say.
First. All my expenses and debts to be paid in full.
Second. One hundred dollars ($100.00), to be held specially to keep my plot in General Protestant Cemetery in good order.
Third. I give and bequeath to the following named persons. Jonas Barter (Senior), Margaret Dewling, Eleanor Gorman, Jennie Lodge, Nettie E. B. Rumsey, Rita S. Rumsey, May Barter in equal parts of all money's left.
Fourth. The said Margaret Dewling's part to be paid in weekly instalments of Six dollars ($6.00) per week and at her death Balance if any to go towards her funeral expenses.
Fifth. The said Eleanor Gorman's part to be paid in weekly instalments of Six dollars ($6.00) per week and at her death, Balance if any to go towards her funeral expenses.
Sixth. I give and bequeath to Jonas Barter Junior my watch and chain.
Seventh. I give and bequeath to Mrs Marion Rumsey all my other belongings.
And Lastly. I do hereby nominate and appoint Alexander H. Rumsey to be executor of this my last will and testament. And I do direct that my said executor shall not be obliged to give security as such.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand this Twenty Sixth day of January in the year of our Lord Nineteen Hundred and Twenty Six. Signed JAMES BARTER.
The above instrument consisting of Three sheets was at the date thereof signed and declared by the said James Barter as and for this his last will and testament, in presence of us, who, at his request and in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto. Witness Harry Gover Witness Alexander H. Rumsey Dated Jany 26/1926.
