Will of Isabella Vail

In re: ISABELLA VAIL. DECEASED

This name is spelled Isabella and Sybella in the will and Isabella in the will index

This is the Last will and Testament of me Isabella Vail of Saint John’s Newfoundland I desire and direct that the payment of my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses should be a first charges upon my estate. I give and bequeath to the Reverend William Jackman the sum of Twenty Dollars for Masses for the repose of the souls of my father and mother, my grandmother Vail and my own. I give and bequeath to Amelia Joy the sum of Twenty Dollars after the payment of the foregoing bequests I direct my Executor to set aside a sufficient sum of money to enclose the plot in the Belvedere Cemetery in which my father and other members of my family are buried with a suitable iron railing and I desire to be buried immediately next to my fathers grave and to have a tombstone to mark my grave.

All the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects I give and bequeath to the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint John’s to be expended by him in payment of a High Mass on the morning of my death and other Masses for the repose of my soul. And I appoint William H. Horwood of Saint John’s Barrister at Law Executor of this my will. In witness whereof I hereunto subscribe my hand this Eleventh day of November A.D. one thousand nine hundred and one and declare the foregoing to be my last will and Testament Sybella Vail Signed Published and Declared by the said Testatrix as and for her Last will and Testament who in her presence and at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed ourselves as witnesses May Ryan Hugh Keeping William H. Horwood.
