In re: HENRY JOHN BACON WOODS. DECEASED.
This is the last will and testament of me Henry John Bacon Woods of St. John’s Post Master General, I revoke all other wills heretofore made by me and direct my funeral and testamentary expenses to be paid. Having promised a subscription of $500.00 payable in five annual instalments of $100.00 each to the Cochrane Street Methodist Centennial Church, St. John’s, of which one payment of $100.00 has been made to date I direct that the instalments (if any) remaining unpaid at my decease be paid annually or if my Executors so determine at earlier periods.
All the rest of my estate property Insurance Shares debentures chattels moneys and effects whatsoever I give devise and bequeath unto my executors hereinafter named upon trust to realize the same and invest the proceeds and to pay the income thereof to my wife Hannah during her life with power to my executors in case the said income shall be insufficient for her support and maintenance to pay to my wife out of Capital such sum or sums as they shall from time to time deem sufficient. It being understood that my wife shall see that my daughter Millicent shall be provided for supported and maintained until the latter shall marry.
After the death of my wife my executors shall set apart such an amount as will in their discretion produce an income sufficient for the support and maintenance of my said daughter Millicent and shall pay to her the said income thereof until her marriage or death and shall divide the balance (if any) of capital among all my daughters share and share alike and upon the marriage or death of my said daughter Millicent the sum so set apart for her shall thereupon be also divided equally among all my daughters. In the event of the death of any of my daughters before such division is made her share shall go to her legal representatives.
My wife shall be entitled to enjoy the household furniture and effects contained in the house on Kings Bridge Road in specie during her life or until she shall direct a sale thereof and the proceeds of any such sale shall be held by my executors upon the trusts aforesaid. I also will and direct that my executors may at their discretion retain any investments already made and may invest any sum or sums in such securities as they shall deem proper.
I appoint my sons-in-law Arthur C. Peters and Alexander Marshall to be the executors of this my will.
