In re
          Henry Roche deceased.

In the name of God Amen.     I Henry Roche Mason of St. John's being of sound mind and memory do on this twenty ninth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty four make and ordain this my last will and testament in the manner and form following, viz. Firstly I give and bequeath my soul to Almighty God by whom it has been made Secondly my body to the earth and after my interment at Belvidere to pay my lawful debts funeral to be as cheap as possible, say purchase of ground, coffin hearse &c. fifteen pounds Thirdly I dispose of my property namely my dwelling house valued at forty pounds furniture provisions clothing &c. twenty pounds a mortgage on John Lynch's house fifty pounds (say forty; a mortgage on Mathew Kent's house thirty pounds cash on hand about forty pounds which I dispose of as follows Seventy pounds to be sent to Brother Benedict former Superior of the Franciscan Convent Clare, Kings County Ireland, or his successor, to be disposed of by said Brother Benedict or his successor for the benefit of said Convent and for the repose of the souls of Brothers Angelus Felix Patrick and all others who are in need of our prayers or other good works Ten pounds for private Masses for my soul ten pounds for private Masses for the repose of the souls of my father Henry Roche mother Eleanor Roche and two sisters Anne Roche and Eleanor Walsh ten pounds for private masses for the following brothers Angelus, Felix Patrick Thomas O'Keefe Philip Duggan John Deane William Morrisey and John Fitzgerald and the souls in purgatory Ten pounds for Father Vereker to be paid by him to my girl Eliza Larkin either together or at different payments Fifteen pounds to the Parish Priest of Tentrin County Wexford Ireland to be divided by him as follows say two pounds to the nearest relative Stephen White late of Campile Bridge Suttons Parish and Thirteen pounds to the most needy and deserving poor in the above name parish Tintren for my soul and father mother and sisters souls and ten pounds to Clift Wood & Coy on a/c of John Lynch.     In addition to the above will I do give and bequeath unto the poor of Saint John's through the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Sisters of Mercy the rest residue and remainder of my property chattels money and effects of every description not disposed of or bequeathed in the above will. N.B. all the above bequests are in currency and I do hereby appoint and nominate Mr. Thomas Woods and Mr. Michael Cahill Tailor to be my executors to this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all former will or testaments made by me. Firstly I give and bequeath my soul to Almighty God by whom it has been made Secondly my body to the earth and after my interment at Belvedere to pay my lawful debts funeral to be as cheap as possible and to be buried along side of Thos. O’Keefe.     Thirdly I dispose of my property banely my dwelling house valued at Fifty pounds (say forty) furniture provisions beds and bedding about seventeen pounds a mortgage on John Lynch’s house with interest fifty pounds, say forty, a mortgage on Mathew Kent’s house thirty nine pounds with interest (say thirty five, cash on hand eighteen pounds which I dispose of as follows Five pounds five for private Masses for my soul, five pounds five for private Masses for the souls of my father Henry Roche, mother Eleanor Roche and two sisters Anne Kehoe and Eleanor Walsh five pounds five shillings for private masses for the souls of the following Brothers Angelus- Felix & Patrick- Thomas O’Keefe, Phillip Duggan, John Deane, William Morrisey and John Fitzgerald and the souls in purgatory Eight pounds eight shillings to the Parish Priest of Tintern County Wexford Ireland to be divided by him as follows say two pounds to the nearest relative of the late Stephen White late of Campile Bridge Suttons Parish.     Three pounds 5/- for Masses for the repose of my soul and for the souls of my father-mother and sisters and the remainder to be given in charity for the purpose of defraying my private debts unpaid by them- five pounds to be paid to my girl Eliza Larkin Seventy pounds to be sent to Brother Benedict Superior of the Franciscan Convent Clara Kings County Ireland, or his successor for the benefit of said Convent and for the souls of Brother Angelus Felix & Patrick and all others who are in need of our prayers-     In addition to the above will I do give and bequeath unto the poor of St. John’s through the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Sisters of Mercy the rest residue of my property chattels and effects of every description not disposed of or by bequeathed in the above will.     N.B. all the above bequests are in currency and I do hereby appoint and nominate Mr. Michael Cahill Tailor and Mr. Thos Conway to be my executors to this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all former will and testament made by me.    Henry Roche.
