In re
         Grace Tibbs deceased

This is the last will and testament of me Grace Tibbs of Saint John’s Widow     I appoint Stephen Rendell of Saint John’s Merchant to be my executor After payment of all my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts I give devise and bequeath all my estate of lands goods chattels monies debts debentures and effects of every description and kind unto my said executor Stephen Rendell and to his executors administrators and assigns in trust to pay the annual and other rents issues interest and profits thereof to and amongst my two daughters Grace Lay of Saint John’s wife of William Lay of same place Sailmaker, and Jane Thomas wife of Henry Thomas of Saint John’s aforesaid Shoemaker share and share alike and to their respective assigns for their respective lives and for their respective use and benefit free from the debts or control of any present or future husband and on the death of either of my said daughters to pay the rents issues and profits of the share of her so dying to and amongst her children equally or child until the death of both my said daughters and if she shall leave no child to pay the whole of such rents issues and profits to my surviving daughter until her death And on the death of both of my said daughters in trust to divide all my said estate that shall then be remaining into two equal shares and to pay and make over absolutely to their respective children if more than one share and share alike and if but one to that child an equal moiety     And if either of my said children should die leaving no issue to pay and make over the whole of my said estate to and amongst the children of my other daughter share and share alike if more than one and if but one the whole to that one his or her heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever And I further empower and direct my said executor to pay to either of my said daughters should sickness or other contingency in his judgment require such assistance a small portion and so much only as in his judgment he may think sufficient of the principal money bequeathed by this my will but the child that shall receive such assistance shall lose the proportionate annual interest-     In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Saint John’s aforesaid this eighteenth day of April Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and fifty five.     Grace Tibbs (LS)     Signed sealed published and declared by the said Grace Tibbs as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence and the presence of each other have subscribed our names, Bryan Robinson, Augustus O.
