The petition of George R. Williams, of St. John’s, in the Island of Newfoundland, Manager, and Robert Gear MacDonald, of the same  place, Druggist, by their solicitor, E. S. PINSENT, HUMBLY SHEWETH

that:

1. Frederick Charles Grant, late of St. John’s, aforesaid, Accountant, died at the said place on the 11th. day of July, 1936, having, previously made his last Will and Testament whereof he appointed your Petitioners the Executors thereof.

2. The said deceased at the time of his death left him surviving as next of kin his daughter Gladys Mary and his son John Frederick  Collier.

3. The said deceased at the time of his death left property situate within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court.

4. The paper writing hereto annexed marked “A” is the last Will and  Testament of the said deceased, proved upon the affidavit of Stella E. Anderson, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto. can at present ascertain.

5. The paper writing hereto annexed marked “B” is a correct and true  inventory and valuation of the estate and effects of the said  deceased, at the time of his death, so far as Your Petitioners can at present ascertain.

6. Neither Letters of Probate to any Will nor of Administration to the estate and effects of the said deceased have been granted out of this Honourable Court to anyone.

Your Petitioners, therefore, pray that this Honourable Court of Your Lordship may be pleased to grant to them Letters of  Probate to the last Will and Testament of the said deceased.

And, as in duty bound, will ever pray etc.

The Last Will and Testament of Frederick

Charles Grant, of St. John’s, Nfld.

In the Name of the Father and of the  Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. I will and Bequeath in the Event of my death, my Estate as follows:

(1) to my daughter, Gladys Mary, I leave the Dwelling House, known as 151 Hamilton  Avenue, in accordance with the wishes of  my late wife expressed to me verbally before her death.

(2) To my son, John Frederick Collier, the piece of land to the East of the said Dwelling being the Northern half of the Garden (formerly belonging to my wife) bounded by Hamilton Ave. and Alexander  Street. (also according to my wife’s wishes)

(3) The rest of my Estate, that is any money  in Bank or Insurances or Investments I leave to be divided equally between my two said Children, or in event of the death of Either, *all my Estate to belong to the surviving Child.

Provided under Clause No. 1:- that my son John shall have a home in  the said House until such time as he shall marry, and further provided that should my daughter Gladys sell *the words all my estate are inserted in the line at the * sell the said House, She shall pay to her brother John one-quarter of the purchase price of the same after deducting expenses  of the sale.

(3) Provided (under clause No 3) that the sum of Fifty Dollars be paid to the Parish of Saint Michael and All Angels St. John’s, towards an Altar Fund for the  Altar of the New Church (contemplated).  Such sum to be placed on deposit until the New Church is built. Provided  further that the sum of Ten. 00 Dollars be remitted to the Guild of all Souls, London, England, of which I am a member.

Provided also in the event of my  Children dying before I die, I bequeath all I die possessed of to the New Church Fund of the Parish of Saint Michael and All Angels.

I request Geo. R. Williams & Robert Gear MacDonald to act as Executors of this my will.
