Emma married Richard W F Lay in St. John’s circa May 1867.
Emma Lay, age 47, widow, married Azariah Parmiter, age 57, widower, carpenter at George Street Methodist Church in St. John's 5/4/1894. Azariah's wife, Amelia Green died from a fall in August 1893. Azariah and Amelia were married in Seal Island, Labrador Sep. 20, 1860. Azariah's family can be referenced in the will of his father Richard (click here to access Richard Parmiter will) |

In re: Estate of Emma Lay Parmiter deceased OATH OF EXECUTOR Probate granted to Martha English and Elizabeth Carberry on the 23rd. day of July A. D. 1909 Value of Estate $700.00 Vol. 6 Folio 206 To the Honourable the Supreme Court, or one of the Honourable the Judges thereof:- The petition of Martha English, of St. John’s, in the electoral district of St. John’s West, married woman and Elizabeth Carberry, of the same place, married woman,humbly sets forth as follows:- I. Emma Lay Parmiter, of St. John’s, in the electoral district of St. John’s West, married woman, died at St. John’s, aforesaid on the 28th. day of June last past, having first executed a last will and testament, which said last will and testament, proven upon the oath of Frederick R. Matthews, Methodist Clergyman, of St. John’s, is hereto annexed marked “A” . 2. At the time of her death said deceased was possess- ed of property, within the jurisdiction of your Honourable Court, of a value not exceeding the sum of $700.00, as will more fully appear by reference to the inventory hereto annexed marked “B”. 3. Under and by virtue of the said last will and testa- ment your petitioners are appointed executrix thereof. 4. No letters of administration to the estate of the deceased, nor letters of probate to any last will and testament of said deceased have been granted to any person. daughter Emily one small feather bed with mattress, to Bessie two feather
pillows, to Minnie two ornaments, the House land & furniture not mentioned in
the preceding is to be sold and the Signed Witnesses |
