In re ELEANOR LITTLE. DECEASED. In the name of God Amen. I Eleanor Little of the City of Saint John*s, N.F.Land and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty being sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and mind and memory thanks be given unto God, therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form (i.e.)After all my lawful debts are paid a headstone purchased, with my late husband*s name and my own Graham & Eleanor Little and also our two children*s names Thomas and Margret Little engraved thereon and six or more feet of ground purchased in the new cemetry for my grave, my furniture to be disposed of as soon as possible after my interment. First I give and bequeath sixty pounds to have High Masses celebrated for the happy repose of my soul, I also bequeath to the Catholic Cathedral five pounds, to Dr. Mullock five pounds, Father Wm. Forristal five pounds, Father Walsh five pounds, Father O*Donnell five pounds, Father O*Neil five pounds, Father Waldron one pound, each of them to offer up Masses for the eternal repose of my soul. I also bequeath to the clerk one pound for his writing billet to have me prayed for, I also bequeath five pounds to the ladies of the Presentation Convent to pray for my soul, the gold cross I wear to be returned to the Nuns it being given me by them, to the Confraternity or Order of the B.V.Mary I bequeath three pounds to have Masses celebrated for my soul, also three pounds twelve shillings to continue my name in their book and prayed for, to the Order of the Sacred Heart of Jesus one pound to continue my name on their books and pray for my soul, to Alias Jane daughter of my niece Mary Dryer deceased I bequeath twenty pounds with interest arising thereon to be give her when she becomes of age, to Bella Veal daughter of my niece Bridget twenty pounds with my silver Rosary and relic, to my nephew Graham McLean my gold watch, chain and seal, to William McLean my silver watch, to Richard McLean five pounds to purchase a watch, to my sons two youngest children Jesse and Julia I bequeath ten pounds each with interest arising thereon to be given them when they are of age, whatever may remain of my money after the bequests heretofore mentioned are disposed of I bequeath the interest arising thereon to my son*s use during his natural life and after his decease twenty pounds for Masses for the repose of his soul, the residue to be divided equally between his two eldest daughters Charlotte Jane and Fanny when they are of age. I hereby appoint Laurence Macassey Merchant and Nicholas Veal Store Keeper both of Saint John*s as my executors and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all former testaments wills legacies bequests and executors by me in any way before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written.
