Will of Eleanora Barnes

IN RE:   ELEANORA BARNES.    DECEASED

This is the last Will and Testament of me Eleanora Barnes, Wife of William John Barnes of Saint John's, Hardware Merchant.

    1. I appoint my daughters Eleanor May Barnes and Gertrude Barnes Executrices of this my Will.

    2. I give and bequeath the income of my Estate to my said daughters equally while they shall remain unmarried.

    3. In the event of the marriage of one of my daughters she shall take One fourth only of the income and the remaining Three fourths shall go to my other daughter while she shall remain unmarried.

    4. In the event of the marriage of both my daughters the income shall be divided between both my said daughters and my son Edward C. Barnes during their lives all sharing equally.

    5. On the respective deaths of my said children the portion of the capital of my Estate which shall be proportionate to the shares of income of which they shall respectively be in receipt at the time of their death shall go to and be divided equally between their respective children then living (if any) : and if none, then to my other children equally the share of any dying in the meantime leaving issue going to such issue.

    6. I give to my Executrices and their successors in the trust power to realize such portion of my Estate as they may think fit: To continue any investments which I may have at the time of my death and to vary the same at their discretion: To invest any portion of my Estate upon the security of Mortgages upon landed property in or near Saint John's and to use and expend such portion of the capital of my Estate from time to time as they may consider necessary for their proper maintenance and support.

    WITNESS my hand at Saint John's aforesaid this 10th day of December Anno Domini One Thousand Nine Hundred and Seventeen.
