This is the last will and testament of me Ellen Carroll of Saint John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Widow made this tenth day of October Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven first I resign my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body I commit I commit to the earth and my worldly property I give and bequeath as follows that is to say I give and bequeath to my daughter Bridget Mullet all that certain dwelling house shop and premises with the appurtenances situate and being on the north side of Duckworth Street in the town of St. John’s aforesaid To have and to hold to my said daughter and her executors and administrators for and during the unexpired term and yet to come in the said dwelling house and premises.     Also I give and bequeath to my said daughter Bridget Mullett six feather beds and bedding one chest drawers one clothes press one large looking glass two large glass globes, two hard wood bedsteads, three hard wood boxes, one strencher, one hair mattress, one carpet and one sideboard.     And also I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Morrissey one feather bed, And finally all the rest residue and remainder of my property and effects whatsoever and wheresoever I may die possessed of (after payment of my just debts) I give and bequeath to my aforesaid daughter Bridget Mullett, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made declaring this to be my last will and testament, and I do hereby constitute and appoint my said daughter Bridget Mullett executrix to this my last will.     In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at St. John’s the day and year aforesaid.     Ellen her X mark Carroll (LS)     Signed sealed published and declared by the testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who at her request in her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto first read & explained, Chas.
