In re: EDWARD PETTEN. DECEASED.

In the name of God Amen. I Edward Petten, Sr. of Middle Bight Conception Bay, Newfoundland Fisherman and Farmer, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament. In the first place I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Ann all my land cultivated and uncultivated, dwelling house, stable, cellar, horse, cart, plough and garden implements, Fishing room and Fishing room and Fishing gear, for her sole use and benefit while she remains in my name -

My son Thomas is to live in the house with his mother, and if he should marry he is to bring his wife to live in the same house with his mother what money is received by my wife for hiring the horse and cart my son Thomas is to receive half the amount from his mother - My son Thomas is to work about the land and help his mother cultivate it and receive a part of the crops. My son Thomas is to have the use of everything herein mentioned that I have willed to my wife, free of charge -

My daughter Patience being sickly and unable to work so as to earn her own living shall live with her mother and be supported out of the land until her death. But if my daughter Patience should out live her mother her brother Thomas is to support her or give her a certain portion of cultivated land so that she will be able to maintain herself out of it -

My daughter Susan can live with her mother and help to work the land until she gets settled in life or she can go out as a servant and earn her living. - My wife is not to sell anything I have willed her without the consent of my son Thomas (except) part of the crops. At the death of my wife my son Thomas is to take possession of every thing that I have bequeathed to his mother by him to be possessed and enjoyed freely - And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testaments and wills in any wise before named by me, ratifying and confirming this, and no other to be my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal, this Tenth day of March, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty.
