In re REV. EDWARD O'KEEFE. DECEASED. In the name of God Amen. I Edward O’Keefe administrator of the Diocese of Saint John’s being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say: After the payment of all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses I will and bequeath the sum of two hundred pounds currency now invested in the stock of the Saint John’s Water Company to my executors hereinafter named to be held by them in trust for the use and benefit of the Convent of Mercy at Brigus.To my executors I will and bequeath the sum of one hundred pounds currency to be expended by them towards the erection of a Roman Catholic Church at North River in the Parish of Brigus. To my brother James O’Keefe and his children I will and bequeath the sum of one hundred pounds currency. To my brother Walter O’Keefe I will and bequeath the sum of one hundred pounds currency. To my sister Ellen O’Keefe I will and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds currency. To my executors I will and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds currency to be expended in and about the Roman Catholic Church at Bay Roberts in said Parish. I will and bequeath the sum of five for the celebration of Masses for the repose of my soul. All my farming utensils stock and cattle and all my household furniture I desire my executors to sell and realise either by public or private sale and to distribute the proceeds thereof among the most deserving poor of the said Parish. All my plate or silver ware I bequeath to the parish priest of said Parish for the time being. All my religious books I will and bequeath to said Convent and the remainder of my library I leave for the use of my successors in said Parish. All the rest residue and remainder of my monies goods chattels and effects I will and bequeath to my executors for the use and benefit of the Roman Catholic Church of said Parish and I hereby nominate and appoint the Very Reverend Dean Cleary, Joseph I. Little and Patrick Newlan executors of this my last will and testament revoking all other and former wills made by me- Dated at Saint John’s this sixth day of September A.D. 1869. Edward O’Keeffe. Signed executed and declared by the said Edward O’Keefe in presence of Patrick Cleary, John Conway. I will and desire that instead of all my household furniture being sold and given to the poor I desire that the amount be given for the celebration of Masses when sold for my soul. I will and desire that my new watch and chain be given by my executors to my nephew William and I will that the old watch that I got from Father Mackin be sold along with the seals to the family if they wish for the sum of twenty pounds currency and ten pounds be given to Johanna Molloy and ten pounds to Mrs. James Cormack I give and bequeath one of my snuff boxes to my nephew Richard O’Keefe and the other to the Presentation Convent of Harbor Main also the ground on the road to Chapels Cove consisting of twenty one acres I give to the Revd.
