Will of Edward Meany

In re: EDWARD MEANY. DECEASED

Know all men by these presents that I Edward Meany of Avondale Harbor Main Dist. in the Island of Newfoundland fisherman, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament

Firstly I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Meany my dwelling House and outhouses with a piece or parcel of land situated as follows two Hundred and fifty feet by Main Line of Road North of Barn 240 feet South west to Gravel Pit from thence in a straight line to main line including Cabbage garden. Also a piece or parcel of land situated on the lee side of Road 70 feet by the Road from Flynns Bounds Also a piece or parcel of land situated on Meany’s Road what is fenced, to have and hold for ever. After my wife’s (Mary Meany) death the aforesaid property will revert to my beloved son Dinnis Meany to have and to hold his heirs and assigns forever

Secondly. I give and bequeath to my beloved sons James Meany Edward Meany and John Meany a piece or parcel of land Starting from a point on main line of Road 250 feet from barn thence south west along by Gravel Pit to Aids Bounds to be divided equally between them John Meany to have North East part along by Smarts Edward Meany to have next part and James Meany South west part. Gravel Pit for use of all.
Also I give and bequeath to my son James Meany a piece of land Situated on Dock Ridge North Side of Road from Bryne’s boundary to Kennedy’s not to go up over the Hill I give and bequeath to my son Edward Meany a piece of land situated on Dock Ridge South of Road bounded by Sullivan and Power on the South
I give and bequeath to my Grand son Arthur Meany a piece of land situated on Dock Ridge Road Bounded by Bryan on the north East and Kennedy on the south west along by Dock Ridge Road to have and to hold his heirs and assigns forever.
I give and bequeath to my sons James and John a piece of land south of Main line of Road reaching from 70 feet aforesaid to Road leading to fishing room to be divided between them
I give and bequeath to my sons Edward and Dinnis Meany that piece of land from Road leading to fishing room aforesaid along by main line of Road to within 40 feet of Long Bridge Edward to have north East half also I give and bequeath to my son Edward Meany the Gravel Pit on Main Line of Road with land on south west of Road leading land owned by Maurice Kennedy
I give and bequeath to my sons John and Edward Meany a piece of land situated on Meany’s Road bounded by Flannigan on the South west and Wood Path on the north to be equally divided between them
I give and bequeath to my sons Edward John and Dinnis all that piece or parcel of land Situated on the north Side of Wood Path aforesaid and bounded by Edward Meany on North East and James Meany on the South west twenty chains Back to be equally divided between them Dinnis to have north East Part

Lastly a point of land outside of Smarts fence if not sold Dinnis to be the owner My wife is at liberty to sell any piece or parcel of land if not cared for by said Sons
I appoint Michael Moore Avondale executor of this my last will and testament In witness whereof I the said Edward Meany set my hand and seal hereunto this fifteenth day of March one thousand nine hundred and two Edw Meany his O mark Signed Sealed Published and declared by the said Edward Meany as and for his last will and testament in presence of us who in presence of each other and at his request have hereunto Subscribed our names as witnesses witness John Moore William Moore
