In re EDWARD COLLEY. DECEASED.
In the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Ghost Amen I Edward Colley Priest missionary D.P.C.(?) Incumbent of St. John the Evangelist Church, Topsail and Rural Dean of Avalon in the Island of Newfoundland being in health & mind and body thanks be to God do make this my last will and Testament.
1. I give and bequeath unto my two youngest daughters viz Mary Ann Desima(?) Colley and Fanny Sophia Pinsent the sum of money which may be realized from the Policy on my life, in the Standard Life assurance Co. and a disbursement of $400.00 of the government of the Colony, held for safe keeping by the Bank of Montreal St. John's, to be equally divided among them share and share alike.
II. I give and bequeath the proceeds of my home cattle &c to be equally divided between Edward Edwards Colley, Benjamin William Colley, Jane Elizabeth Glounghan(?), Emily Ethel??? Caldwell, Francis Worthington Colley, Jacob George Thomas Colley, Reginald Richard Colley and Gertrude Martha Dallows Davis, my sons and daughters.
III I should like each of them to choose any article or picture or book they might prefer to keep in remembrance and I should like each of my grandchildren to have a book or something in remembrance
My just debts must be paid out of current income, but if not sufficient then out of the estate.
IV I give the silver Flagon, bearing my name for the use of the church of St. John the Evangelist Topsail, at the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. My M.S.S.(?) I desire to be burnt. I desire to be buried in a plain deal(?) coffin without any ornament and the funeral to be as plain and inexpensive as possible and no expensive stone. I also constitute my son Francis Worthington Colley sole executor of this my last will.
