In re EDMUND MURPHY. DECEASED. In the name of God Amen. Dated at Saint John*s Newfoundland this twenty eight day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three I Edmund Murphy a resident on the Petty Harbor Road being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament, First and principally of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it. I give and bequeath unto my two sons named Andrew Murphy and John Murphy by even and equal shares undivided all my farm of land and dwelling house and stable at present in my occupancy situate and being on the southern side of the Road leading from St John*s to Petty Harbor containing about thirteen acres more or less to have and to hold the said farm of land dwelling house stable and premises with the appurtenances by two even and equal undivided shares from and immediately after my death to my two aforesaid sons Andrew Murphy and John Murphy and their lawful heirs for ever.I also give and bequeath to my said two sons Andrew Murphy and John Murphy by even and equal shares all my cows horses cattle all my farming utensils and implements of husbandry all my household furniture bed & bedding and all other moveable effects or property to me now belonging goods and chattels whatsoever. I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Clegg wife of the late John Clegg one shilling sterling. I give and bequeath to my daughter Bridget Cummins wife of Philip Cummins the sum of one shilling sterling. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary the wife of James Carrigan the sum of one shilling sterling. I give and bequeath to my daughter Catherine the wife of John Fitzpatrick the sum of one shilling sterling. I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Murphy the sum of one shilling sterling. And I do hereby nominate and appoint Mr. John Byrne of Holy Rood Planter executor to this my last will and testament and I hereby revoke and declare null and void all former wills legacies and bequests declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Saint John*s aforesaid the day and year first before written.
