Will of Charlotte Sparkes

IN RE:   CHARLOTTE SPARKES.    DECEASED

This is the last will and Testament of me Charlotte Sparkes made this the fourth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and four as follows:-

I do hereby declare that my sister Mary Anne Tuck shall and may out of the first monies that may come to her hands from the rent of my two houses situated on the west side of Goodview Street reimburse and indemnify herself for all such costs, damages, charges and expenses as she may be put to in case of my illness and death. I give and bequeath to my sister Mary Anne Tuck all my household linen and wearing apparel except my bed, bedstead, two pillows one bolster and all the coverlets which shall be on my bed at the time of my death, these bed bedstead I give and bequeath to William Windsor the son of my deceased sister in law Emma Windsor

I give and bequeath my interest one share in the Parson's Pond Oil Wells to my sister Mary Anne Tuck. (I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint Mr Eli Tuck to be the Executor of my will and I hereby declare that my said Executor shall and may out of the first monies that may come to his hands reimburse and indemnify himself for all such costs damages and charges as he may be put to or sustain in and about the execution of this will such monies to come from the rents of aforesaid houses after my sister Mary Anne Tuck has fully reimbursed herself for aforesaid expenses

I direct that the proceeds from the sale or hire of the older of the two houses aforesaid shall be divided into three equal parts and paid as follows - one equal part unto my sister Isabella Mosdell of Bay Roberts and one other equal part unto my sister aforesaid Mary Anne Tuck, and one other equal part unto the children of my deceased sister Louisa Bartlett of St. John's to be divided among them in three equal parts. The proceeds from the sale or hire of the other of the aforesaid houses shall be divided unto five equal parts and paid as follows:- one equal part unto Anne Kelley of St. John's, one other equal part to Maria Weeks of Montreal, one equal part unto Noah Sparkes of Bull Cove one equal part unto William Windsor the son of my deceased sister in law Emma Windsor, one equal part unto the children of my deceased sister in Law Lavina Sparkes of Boston Mass., in all cases I bequeath the aforesaid properties unto the children of the aforesaid persons in case of his her or their death before this will is put into force

I direct that my little money remaining in the savings bank at the time of my decease shall be disposed of in bearing any expenses incurred by my funeral and burial and that the remainder if any, be disposed of in putting an iron rail about my grave and any further balance to the proper care of the grave. I declare this to be my last will and Testament In witness whereof I the said Charlotte Sparkes have to this my last will and Testament set my hand the day of in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and four Signed by the Testatrix Charlotte Sparkes and acknowledged by her to be her last will and Testament in the presence of us present and superscribed by us at the same time in the presence of the said Testatrix and of each other Dudley Pope S. H. Soper
