Will of Charles Morris

In re: CHARLES MORRIS. DECEASED

This is the last will and Testament of me Charles Morris of Saint John's in the Island of Newfoundland Master Mariner I hereby revoke all former Testamentary Dispositions I direct that my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses shall be first paid out of my Estate.

I give devise and bequeath unto my grandsons William Charles Hamlyn, Alexander Edward Hamlyn and Charles Hamlyn all my interest in and to a Deed of Assignment of Mortgage from Jessie Carter of Saint John's aforesaid to me bearing date the third day of June Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and ninety seven on the premises belonging to the Estate of the late Paul Hamlyn situate on Holloway Street share and share alike.

I give and bequeath unto my said Grandson William Charles Hamlyn the bedroom set of furniture bed and bedding iron bedstead, chest drawers sofa, window blinds and fittings, looking glass and all other articles of mine which are contained in my upstairs bedroom of the house I now occupy. I also give and bequeath unto my said Grandson William Charles Hamlyn the bedstead bed and bedding, washstand with fittings, table, lamps, pictures china, glassware and all other articles of mine which are contained in the downstairs front room which I at present use as a bedroom I also give and bequeath unto my Grandson William Charles Hamlyn my seaman's chest and all my clothes which are contained in said chest. I also give and bequeath to my said Grandson William Charles Hamlyn my silver watch and chain upon the condition that the said William Charles Hamlyn shall give to my Grandson Alexander Edward Hamlyn the watch and chain at present worn by him the said William Charles Hamlyn provided that should the said William Charles Hamlyn refuse to comply with the condition of this bequest I give and bequeath my said silver watch and chain to my Grandson Alexander Edward Hamlyn

I give and bequeath unto my said grandson Alexander Edward Hamlyn my Kerosene oil stove and the bedstead bed and bedding, table and seaman's chest and all other articles of mine which are contained in the bedroom now occupied by my said Grandson William Charles Hamlyn.

I give and bequeath unto my said Grandson Charles Hamlyn the bedstead bed and bedding which he at present uses and my clock with the brass face which is in the down stairs front room which I at present use as a bedroom. I desire that the residue of my Estate, if any, shall be divided amongst my three said Grandchildren William Charles Hamlyn, Alexander Edward Hamlyn and Charles Hamlyn share and share alike.

I appoint Charles H. Ermerson of Saint John's aforesaid Barrister-at Law to be the Executor of this my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have subscribed my name to this my last will and Testament at Saint John's aforesaid this eleventh day of October Anno Domini One thousand eight hundred and ninety nine. Charles his x mark Morris Signed by the said Testator (by making his mark) as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us (both being present at the same time) who in his presence, at his request and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses being first read over and explained Charles H. Emerson James Hector Henderson
