         Catherine Hennessey deceased.

In the name of God Amen.     I Catherine Hennessey of St. John’s in the Island of Newfoundland Widow being of sound disposing mind memory and understanding do make this my last will and testament.     It is my will and desire that my lawful debts be first paid and my body be decently interred.     I will and bequeath to the Right Revd Doctor Mullock the sum of fifty pounds for the Cathedral.     I will and bequeath to the Revd. John Vereker the sum of five pounds and to the Revd. Richard O’Donnell the sum of five pounds each of them to celebrate Masses for my soul.     I will and bequeath the sum of ten pounds to each of the four nunneries in Saint John’s,     I will and bequeath to my beloved nephew William Mockler and his three sisters the sum of fifty pounds each,     I will and bequeath to Edward Murphy and to his sisters the sum of ten pounds each     I will and bequeath to Margaret Hennessey alias Doherty to Mary Hennessey alias Dwyer and to Mary Ann Doherty alias McGrath the sum of ten pounds each I will and bequeath to the Friars Chapel of Callon (Ireland) the sum of fifty pounds.     I will and bequeath to Mrs. Hogsett relict of the late Aaron Hogsett the sum of ten pounds     I will and bequeath to Bridget Quidihy daughter of Richard Quidihy the sum of ten pounds     I will and bequeath to Elenor Carrol a servant I formerly had the sum of five pounds     I will and bequeath to Mrs. Costello (widow) the sum of five pounds.     I will and bequeath to Mrs. Ellen Commerford the sum of five pounds the foregoing bequests are to be paid in currency.     I will and bequeath to the Orphans of St. Michael’s Nunnery the residue of my money after paying the foregoing bequests together with my dwelling house, furniture and every other article contained in said house at the time of my death hereby revoking and annulling all former wills made by me.     Signed sealed published and declared, the word sister been interlined on the second last line first page) by said testatrix on the first day of October and in the year of our Lord 1862, Catherine Hennessey (LS) witnesses to the signature P. Brazil, Peter Brennan.     As a codicil to this my last will and testament I do hereby nominate and appoint Peter Brennan and Patrick Brazil to be my executors given under my hand seal the day and date above written Catherine Henesy (LS)     Witness, P. Brazil, John Freeman.
