Will of Azariah Parsons

In re: AZARIAH PARSONS DECEASED.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Azariah Parsons, of St. John’s, in the Island of Newfoundland, Laborer.

FIRST. I give, devise and bequeath my dwelling house and premises situate on the South Side of Bond Street in St. John’s aforesaid, numbered Eighty Nine, together with all my household furniture and effects to my Executor hereinbefore named In Trust to sell the same and to divide the proceeds arising from such sale equally between my two daughters, namely Jemima Yabsley and Victoria Pottle.

SECONDLY. I hereby confirm the gift of an organ to my said daughter Victoria, which said organ is at present in her possession.

THIRDLY. I give, devise and bequeath to my grandson Francis Victor Parsons the sum of Five hundred dollars to be paid to him out of such moneys, if any, as I may have in Bank at time of my death.

FOURTHLY. All the rest residue and remainder of my property of whatsoever nature I give and bequeath the same to my said daughters Jemima Yabsley and Victoria Pottle equally. I trust, however, that my said two daughters will give a small gift of money to Lavinia Learning as a remembrance of me.

FIFTHLY. Should either or both of my said daughters die before me then the bequest hereby made to my said daughter or daughters as dying shall be equally divided between her or their children, so that the children of a deceased parent shall take their deceased parents share.

SIXTHLY. I appoint George Langmead of St. John’s aforesaid, Watchmaker, the Executor of this my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand at St. John’s, aforesaid, this First day of March Anno Domini One thousand nine hundred and Twenty one. AZARIAH his X mark PARSONS

Signed by the Testator as and for his last will and testament in our presence, who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
