IN RE: ANASTATIA RYAN. DECEASED
This is the last Will and Testament of me Anastatia Ryan of St. John's, Married Woman.
I hereby revoke all former Wills and Testamentary Dispositions.
I appoint John Fenelon of St. John's, Barrister-at-law to be the Executor and Trustee of this my Will.
I will devise and bequeath my dwelling-house Number Queen Street, St. John's together with all household furniture (except my piano) which shall be contained therein at the date of my death unto John Fenelon his Executor and Administrators upon trust that my trustee shall sell and convert into money my said dwelling-house and furniture when and as he shall in his discretion deem it most advantageous so to do and out of the moneys to arise therefrom I direct my trustee to pay - to Mrs. Sarah Godney now residing at Great Grimsby, England, her executors or administrators the sum of Two thousand dollars.
- To Anna Hawco (daughter of Matthew Hawco of St. John's) her Executors or Administrators the sum of Five hundred dollars ($500.00);
- To Cyrus Hawco (son of Matthew Hawco aforesaid) his Executors or Administrators the sum of Five hundred dollars ($500.00);
- To Cornelius Lewis (son of James and Ellen Byrne Lewis of Holyrood) his Executors or Administrators One thousand dollars ($1000.00);
- To the Belvidere Orphanage of St. John's the sum of Five hundred dollars ($500.00);
- To the Mount Cashel Orphanage the sum of Five hundred dollars ($500.00);
- And I direct my trustee out of the moneys arising from the sale of the said dwelling-house and furniture to pay the sum of One hundred dollars ($100.00) for the celebration of masses for Souls in Purgatory;
- To devote and expend Two hundred dollars ($200.00) upon the enclosure of my deceased mother's grave and upon the celebration of masses for the repose of her soul:
- To pay all premiums which shall be due at the date of my death or which shall become due thereafter until the assured shall reach the age of twenty years upon the Policy of Insurance effected upon the life of the aforementioned Cyrus Hawco.
I bequeath to the aforementioned Sarah Godney my piano jewellery wearing apparel and such like personal effects.
I will devise and bequeath the remainder of all my real and personal estate to which I shall be entitled at the time of my death unto the said John Fenelon upon trust to sell and convert into money such parts thereof as shall not consist of money and out of the moneys to arise therefrom - to pay my debts and funeral and testamentary expenses.
- To devote and expend Three hundred dollars ($300.00) upon the enclosure of my grave and the erection of a monument to my memory;
- To pay One hundred dollars ($100.00) for the celebration of four high masses for the repose of my soul;
- To pay One hundred dollars ($100.00) for the celebration of five masses each year during the period of twenty years following my death;
- To pay One thousand dollars ($1000.00) to some necessitous student in pursuit of his studies for the Priesthood, such student to be chosen by the Archbishop of St. John's;
- And I direct my trustee to divide the residue of my whole estate equally between the aforementioned Sarah Godney and Cornelius Lewis their respective executors or administrators.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand this 23rd day of October Anno Domini One thousand nine hundred and Twenty-two.
