Will of William McCarthy of Quidi Vidi
In re 
William McCarthy  deceased

This is the last will and testament of me, William McCarthy, formerly of Quidi Vidi, St. John's East, Fisherman, I revoke all former wills by me at any time made, and I appoint my daughter Margaret Elliott to be the Executrix of this my will. 
I will and direct that my funeral and testamentary expenses shall be first paid out of my Estate.  I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Purcell the sum of One Hundred Dollars.  I give and bequeath to my daughter Lizzie DeBurke the sum of One Hundred Dollars. I give and bequeath to my daughter Annie Ewing my piece of land at Quidi Vidi known as the "Back Land" and situate West of my dwelling house.  I also give and bequeath to my said daughter Annie the Bedstead, Chest of Drawers, mattress and bedspread now in my said house.  I also give to her the sum of Fifty dollars.  I give and bequeath my Dwelling House at Quidi Vidi and the land surrounding the same and the balance of the furniture in the said house to my daughter Fannie Brett.  All the rest and residue of my Estate including my field on the White Hills Road and the balance of any money in bank or on hand I leave to my daughter Margaret Elliott for her own use absolutely. 

In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand at St. John's this fourteenth day of February in the year of Our Lord One thousand nine hundred and Twenty-one 
 William his X mark McCarthy.

Signed Published and Declared by the Testator as and for his last will and testament in presence of us, both being present at the same time, who at his request and in his presence hereunto subscribe our names as witnesses attesting the due execution hereof, the same having been first read over and explained to the Testator, who appeared perfectly to understand the same, and who signed the same by making his mark thereto in our presence.
