In re
Lawrence K. Vereker deceased This is the last will and Testament of me Lawrence Kennedy Vereker of Ferryland in the Southern District of the Dominion of Newfoundland, Parrish Priest. I appoint the Hon. Michael P. Cashin of Cape Broyle to be my Executor. I give, devise and bequeath to my nephew John Vereker the sum of Four Hundred dollars and my grandnephew Lawrence Vereker the sum of Two hundred dollars I direct that the sum of Four hundred dollars be set aside to pay for masses for the repose of the souls of my parents, brothers, sisters and self. I direct that Three hundred dollars be paid for my funeral expenses and a slab to be erected for myself in Belvidere. I give, devise and bequeath to Rev. Mother Joseph, Ferryland the sum of Two hundred dollars, - to my housekeeper Kate Power the sum of Two hundred dollars, to James Miller, School-teacher, Ferryland the sum of Two hundred dollars,- to Sister Paul Leahy, Genge's Hill, Convent Dublin the sum of one hundred dollars,- to Anastasia Keane Butler's Town, Co. Waterford, the sum of one hundred dollars. I direct and order that the sum of Three hundred dollars be set aside to provide a memorial window or side alter in the Parrish Church at Ferryland. I give devise and bequeath to the Rev. Mother, Belvidere Orphanage St. John's for the benefit of the orphans the sum of Two hundred dollars. I give, devise and bequeath to James Miller all my books, now in my house for his sole use and benefit, what ever balance of cash remaining or property to go to my nephew John Vereker,- I direct that the sum of three hundred dollars give to me to celebrate masses shall be disposed of for that purpose. In witness whereof, I the said Lawrence Kennedy Vereker of Ferryland, Parrish Priest, have to this my last will and testament, signed my name this twenty second day of May in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen [sgd] L. K. Vereker. Signed by the Testator and acknowledged by him to be his last will and testament in our presence, who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have affixed our names as witnesses.
