Will of Johanah Kennedy of St. John's
In re
Johanah Kennedy    deceased

This is the last will and testament of me Johanah Kennedy of St. John's, widow, hereby revoking all other and former wills  by me at anytime made. I give, devise and bequeath as follows: {1} To my son Edward the house in which I now reside, also the moneys due me in sale of fishing property situate at Labrador. {2} To my said son Edward, my daughters Mary Richardson and Sarah Beadie now residing in the United States of America, my grandsons Edward Kennedy and Arthur Crooks and my granddaughters May Warren Mary Kennedy and Margaret Kennedy whatever money there may be on deposit in the Banks to my credit or in my possession in equal shares. {3} To my son Edward and my grand-daughter May Warren all my household furniture, goods and effects of every kind in equal shares. {4} I direct that out of the moneys now on deposit in the Banks of this country there shall be paid the cost of a tombstone to the memory of my husband and self, also an iron railing to be placed around the grave of my deceased brother Michael Scanlon.  I also direct that out of said moneys in said Banks there shall be expended for Masses for the repose of the souls of my deceased husband and myself the sum of twenty dollars and for the repose of the souls of my deceased brother and sister the sum of ten dollars, and for the other members of my family the sum of ten dollars. I also direct that the expenses connected with my funeral, the probate of this my will and expenses incidental thereto shall also be paid out of said moneys in said Banks.  I appoint James L. (?) Martin of St. John's, undertaker, executor of this my will.  St. John's October 5th 1917 signed Johanah her X mark Kennedy. Signed Published and Declared, by the said Testatrix as and for her last will and testament in our presence who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses, the same having been first read over and explained M.P. Bible J.L. (?) Martin
