Will of Thomas Conway of St. John's
In re                   
Thomas Conway  deceased.

In the name of God Amen.  I, Thomas Conway of St. John's do make publish and declare this as and for my last will and testament.
First.  I hereby direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses be paid as soon as possible after my death.
Second.  I give devise and bequeath my land and houses situate  on Kings Road to my sister Johanna Grace to receive the rents thereof during her lifetime and after the death of my sister I give the same to my niece Kate Brien to receive the rents thereof during her lifetime and after the death of my niece Kate Brien I direct that the said land and houses be sold and the proceeds paid in equal shares to Mount Cashel School of Industry and the Orphanage at Belvedere.
Third.  I give devise and bequeath my leasehold land and house on Queens Road to the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of St. John's to have five Masses a year said for the repose of the soul of Revd. R. Brennan and five Masses a year for the repose of my soul. 
Fourth.  I direct that my sister Johanna Grace shall enjoy the premises No. 85 Kings Road free from ground rent during her lifetime.
Fifth.  I give my sister Johanna Grace the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars for her own present use.
Sixth.  I give my niece Kate OBrien of Freshwater the sum of five hundred dollars for her own present use.
Seventh.  I give my niece Kate OBrien all my household furniture and my goods and effects.
Eighth.  I give my nephew John Conway of James of Renews the sum of One hundred dollars.
Nine I give James German Sr. of Harbor Breton the sum of one hundred dollars.
Tenth.  I give Revd. D. O'Callahan the sum of one hundred dollars for Masses for the repose of my soul.
Eleventh.  I give Revd. Thos Gough the sum of one hundred dollars for Masses for the repose of the souls in purgatory especially those most entitled thereto or of those whose wins I may have been the occasion.
Twelfth.  I direct that the sum of Forty dollars be given to provide a headstone at Belvedere similar to that now there.
Thirteenth I direct that the bequest of my land and houses on Queens Road to the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation shall not be given effect to until after one year from the day of my death.
Fourteenth.  I will and direct that my executors devote the balance of my moneys in the Savings Bank  [Government] to the purchase of an organ for the St. Patrick's Church Riverhead but unless the said organ is purchased within two years from my death I will and direct that the said balance be divided as to one half thereof towards the erection of a Church at Little Placentia and as to the other half thereof towards the Church at Harbor Breton, Fortune Bay.
Fifteenth.  I hereby appoint Revd. D. O'Callahan of St. John's J. M. Kent of St. John's James Fitzhenry, Senior, of St. John's and G.M. Gadan of St. John's to be the executors of this my will.
Sixteenth.  I hereby revoke all other and former wills by me made.  Thomas Conway.  Signed published and declared by the testator as and for his last will and testament in our presence who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our hands as witnesses this 4th day of June 1913 after the death of my sister being first interlined on the first page hereof.  J. In the name of God Amen.  I Thomas Conway of St. John's do make publish and declare this as and for a Codicil to my last will and testament date June 4th 1913.
First.  I hereby revoke the bequest in my said will which relates to my land and houses on Kings Road and instead thereof I hereby give my said land and houses to my sister Johanna Grace for her own sole use and benefit.
Second.  I hereby confirm my will in all other respects.  Thomas Conway.  Signed published and declared by the said testator as and for a Codicil to his last will and testament dated the 4th day of June 1913 in our presence who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses this 7th day of June 1913.  J. In the name of God Amen.  I, Thomas Conway of St. John's do make publish and declare this as and for a second Codicil to my last will and testament dated the 4th day of June 1913.
First.  I hereby revoke the appointment of James Fitzhenry Sr. as one of the executors of my said will and I confirm my said will in other respects.
Secondly.  I give my sister Johanna Grace the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars more for her own use if she should require it for her own use and in the event of her not requiring it I give the same to Belvedere Orphanage.  Thomas Conway.  Signed published and declared by the testator as and for a Codicil [Second] to his last will and testament dated the 4th day of June 1913 in our presence who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other this 16th day of June 1913.  J.
