Will of Robert Cole of St. John's
In re                   
Robert Cole deceased.

This is the last will and testament of me Robert Cole, of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland, Farmer, and I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentaary writings.  I hereby nominate and appoint William P. Taaffe of St. John's, aforesaid, Druggist, to be sole executor of this my will.
[1]  I will and direct that out of my general personal estate my executor hereinbefore named shall first pay all my just debts and funeral and testamentaary expenses, and shall further pay the sum of thirty dollars for the celebration of masses for the repose of my soul.
[2]  I give and bequeath to my daughter Ellen, wife of Edward O'Neil, all the land, with the dwelling houses thereon, owned by me and known as "Walsh's Square" To hold the same unto her absolutely
[3]  I give and bequeath to my son John
 [A] the land on which is built the house and barn at present occupied by him, situate on the south side of the road leading around the northside of Quidi Vidi Lake;
 [b] one hundred feet of land fronting on the said road and extending back to the river situate immediately to the west of and adjoining said land and dwelling house now occupied by him;
 [c] all the land, with houses thereon where owned by me, fronting on said road and extending eastwards from the land and dwelling now occupied by him to and including land leased to one Lilly; To hold the same unto him absolutely.
[4]  I give and bequeath to my son Martin the land, together with the six dwelling houses thereon, owned by me and situate on the East side of King's Bridge Road; also the two large fields situate in the rear of said buildings To hold the same unto him absolutely.
[5].  All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate I give and bequeath to my son Martin.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand to this my will the 18th day of December Anno Domini  one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.  Robert Cole.  Signed by the said Testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, both being present at the same time, who at his request, in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.  Cyril J. This is a Codicil to the last will of Robert Cole, dated the 18th day of December A.D. 1916:-   I give and bequeath to my daughter Ellen, wife of Edward O'Neil, all money's due me under the will of my late uncle, Martin Walsh, amounting to the sum of from sixty to seventy dollars a year and paid to me by the Hon. Mr. Justice Kent annually.  Dated at St. John's this 6th day of December A.D. 1918.  Robert Cole.  Signed by the said Robert Cole as a Codicil to his will in his presence, both being present at the same time, who at his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereto signed our names as witnesses.  Cyril J.
