Will of John Bray Ayre of St. John's
In re              
John Bray Ayre.    deceased.

This is the last will and testament of me John Bray Ayre of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland Merchant
1.  I hereby appoint my dearly beloved wife Sarah Blaikie Ayre sole executrix of this my will.
2.  I hereby confirm unto my said wife the monies due under the policies of life assurance made payable to her on my decease.
3.  I give devise and bequeath unto my said wife absolutely all articles of domestic personal and household use belonging to me.
4.  I give devise and bequeath unto my said wife for and during her lifetime the land and dwelling situate in the Western portion of St. John's and known as "Thornlea" and also the land and dwelling situate in the Western portion of St. John's known as "No. 1 Albany" My said wife shall be at liberty to sell Thornlea and invest the monies received therefor and use the income arising therefrom during her lifetime.
5.  I give devise and bequeath the said "Thornlea" or the monies arising from the sale thereof, on the death of my said wife, unto my daughters Florence Emma Mary Knowling, Emma Bray Ayre, Jessie Rogerson Ayre share and share alike, the children of a deceased daughter to receive the parents share.
6.  I give devise and bequeath the said "No. 1 Albany" on the death of my said wife, to my daughter Florence Emma Mary Knowling.
7.  I give devise and bequeath the rest residue and remainder of my estate unto my said wife and my said daughters Florence Emma Mary Knowling Emma Bray Ayre, Jessie Rogerson Ayre share and share alike, the children of a deceased parent to receive the parents share.  Dated at St. John's this twenty seventh day of June One thousand nine hundred and fourteen.  John B. Ayre.  Signed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other [all present at the same time] have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
