Will of Richard Shortall of St. John's
In re            
Richard Shortall   deceased.

In the name of God Amen.  I Richard Shortall, of St. John's do make this my last will and testament.
First.  It is my will and desire that my executor hereinafter appointed shall see that all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, are first paid.
Second.  I will and bequeath to my beloved wife, Catherine Shortall all the estate I may die possessed of for her use, support and benefit during her lifetime, and after her death, I will my dwelling house and premises, No. 420 Water Street, St. John's to my son Stanislaus together with my farm on the Southside, St. John's, West of the Mill Bridge.
Third.  To my son John and daughter Ellen I will and bequeath my residence on Waterford Bridge Road divided equally between them on the following conditions: that my son John pays the whole of the municipal and other taxes and keeps the whole of the said dwelling house in good order and repair.  The portion here willed to my daughter Ellen shall be the property of my grandson, Henry Sinnott, upon the death of my said daughter Ellen.
Fourth.  I will and bequeath to my daughter Mary my house at No. 425 Water Street St. John's.
Fifth.  To my daughter Ellen, six shares in the Newfoundland Boat and Shoe Factory.
Sixth.  To my grandson Henry Sinnott, three shares in Notre Dame Bay Mining Company.
Seventh.  It is my will and desire that my farm West of Syme's Bridge on the Southside Road, be divided equally in three parts between my daughter Annie, my daughter Ellen and my son Stanislaus.
Eighth.  I hereby appoint my son-in-law, Garrett Byrne executor of my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills that may have been made by me.  In witness whereof I have hereunto my hand set and subscribed at St. John's, this 12th day of April A.D. 1919.  Richard Shortall X his mark.  Signed by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in our presence, who, in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses:    Garrett Byrne.    F. J. Morris.
