John Codner deceased
In the name of God Amen I John Codner of Torbay planter
of Newfoundland being very sick and weak of Bodey but or and of perfect
mind and memory Thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality
of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do
make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally
and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty
God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in Decent
Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors Nothing douting but
the general resurrection I shall receve the same again by the mighty power
of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God
to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following
manner and forme,
First I give to my well beloved son William Codner my old cow hours
and one half of my potatey ground lying behinde John Squiers is house and
tow partes of my medow dry Ground lying to westard of Phillip Graces and
but not to go to the westard of the place being called the Droke Also I
give to my well beloved son Samuel Codner one half of river meadow
Also I give to my well beloved son John Codner the house and the Land est
of the medow lying on the place by the Name of Pendergraces is place and
the half of the rest of my Fishing room that I now occupy and the half
of the matiarles belongin thare unto the shore Also I give to my
well beloved son Necholas Codner my Dwelling house and Furnitur Clock and
watch board and beading tow gund & all things belonging thare untow
and likewise the half of the rest of my Fishing Room that I now occupy
and the half the matiariel belonging there unto the shore and likewise
my boots and Craft Nets & seins and all that belongs to the Fishery
three out houses tow kitching Gardins and dung pits and the potatey gardin
next to the house and the half of the potatey Ground behinde John Squiers's
house and the tow medows lying handy Mrs. Yuestis's house and the marsh
lying under William Codners partes lying to the weastard of Phillip Grace
is house and one half of the river medow and all that pice of Ground lying
to the weastard of the Droke up to the upper fence and a pice of Ground
lying inside of the Clapper on the lift hand side and the small medow lying
un Pendergraces is place allso my potatey siller tow sawes and all other
things beloning to my house and five cowes and Mare. Allso I give
to my well beloved daughter Grace Fild the remaning parte of the dry ground
lying to the westard of Phillip Grace is house after William Codner's parte
is taken out of it. Also I give and bequeath to Ann my dearly beloved
wife the supporte for herself and grand Daughter in my house to live &
abide with Nicholas Codner for him to supporte she and her Grand Daughter
as long she shall live or abstain from marrige to be supported out of my
land and cattell as long as she thinks proper to Abide with my son Nicholas
Codner in the house but she is not to sill or despose of aney cattel houseis
or land or aney thing that is his in the house of the housel furniture
Allso I give to my well beloved daughter Elizabeth Harrice one cow if there
is any left of this my last will & Teastament all and singular my lands
messuages and tenements by them freeley to be possessed and anjoid and
I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other forme
testaments wills legacies Bequests and Executors by me in aney ways before
named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other
to be my last Will and Testament
in Witness whereof I have unto set my hand & seal this Ninth day
of Aprel in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and twentey
five

as his last will and testament in the prisence of us who in his prisence
and in the presence of each other hereto subscribed our names
