Will of Stephen Mitchell of Portugal Cove
In re                     
Stephen Mitchell   deceased.

Page 1.  Portugal Cove Conception Bay Newfoundland January 10th.  1920.
Know all men by these presents, that I Stephen Mitchell of Portugal Cove in the Electoral District of St. John's East, fisherman, being in poor health, though of sound mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.  And as to my worldly estate, and all the property of which I shall die possessed at the time of my decease, I devise, bequeath, and dispose thereof in the following manner, to wit:-
First.  My Will is, that my three children, Gladys Mitchell, Hazel Mitchell, and Nellie Mitchell, shall be profited by the disposal of my property in the following manner, to wit:  That those to whom I give and bequeath my property shall provide for my children, aforesaid, a home or homes, where they shall be suitably cared for until they become capable of caring for themselves.  I give to Arthur Mitchell, my step-brother on the conditions above stated, all my fishing property, situated at Portugal Cove, including land, fish-flake & other appurtenances, bounded on the west by the property of Peter Mitchell and sons, bounded on the East by the properties of Jacob Churchill and Ambrose Churchill, on the north by the waters of Conception Bay and running south for about 25 yards, more or less & having a breadth of 30 ft. more or less, to have & to hold forever.  I give to William Mitchell my step-brother, on the conditions stated above, my dwelling house, land and its appurtenances situated at Portugal Cove, and known by the residents of the above named town as my property, to have and to hold forever.  And lastly I nominate and appoint my said step brothers to be the Executors of this my last will and testament.  
In testimony whereof, I, the said Stephen Mitchell have to this, my last will and testament contained in three sheets of letter size paper, and to every sheet thereof, subscribed my name, and to this last sheet thereof I have subscribed my name, this 12th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred & twenty.  Signature:- Stephen Mitchell his X mark.
Signed and declared by the said Stephen Mitchell, as and for his last will and testament, in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
