Jacob Chafe deceased
This is the last will and testament of me Jacob Chafe Fisherman
of Petty Harbor, in the Electoral District of St. John's West.
First I desire that all my just debts and funeral and testamentary
expenses, and the cost of headstone shall be first paid out of my Estate.
Second: I appoint Henry J. W. Bishop of Petty Harbor sole executor
of this my will.
Third: I give devise and bequeath to my son Daniel my dwelling house
household goods, furniture and garden.
Fourth: I give devise and bequeath to my three sons Edward William
and Daniel my premises and lands situate at Petty Harbor together with
outhouses, fishing stages flakes and all other buildings and erections
thereon but at the death of my son William his share of the property is
to go to the children of my son Edward.
Fifth: I give devise and bequeath to my son Edward the sum of five
hundred dollars.
Sixth: I give devise and bequeath the remainder of all monies of which
I shall die possessed to my five children hereinafter named in equal shares
between them, that is to say - my two sons William and Daniel and my three
daughters [1] Hannah wife of Henry Chafe [2] Mary Ann wife of Nathaniel
Chafe [3] Margaret, wife of Edward White. Witness my hand at Petty
Harbour this twenty-fourth day of April A.D. one thousand nine hundred
and eighteen Jacob his X mark Chafe.
Signed published and declared by the said Testator as and for his last
will and testament in our presence, who in the presence of the said Testator
and of each other, all present at the same time have hereunto subscribed
our names as witnesses. The said Will having been first read over
to and approved by the said Testator as and for his last will and testament
