BRIG ‘SWIFT' ; George RAYMOND, Master from St. John, New Brunswick with a cargo of Pork, Flour, Bread, Lumber & etc., coming to this Port Tuesday evening last, struck ice in the Star Board Bow and filled with water. Master and Crew taken on board the Schooner "Mary Ann', Captain BEATTY, and brought on shore next day with the help of the ‘Men of War', succeeded in towing her to shore. (3 May)

LOSS OF HIS MAJESTY'S SLOOP OF WAR "TWEED", CAPTAIN MATHER. In Shoal Bay, near Bay Bulls, Friday last, several Officers and sixty crew were drowned owing to thick hazy weather with heavy gales. The "Tweed" left Cork on the 3rd ult. with 52 sail of vessels, destined for Newfoundland. (4 Nov.)

LOSS OF THE SHIP ‘SOUTHHAMPTON' of London, Henry LEE, Master, Friday night last. Struck a rock called Long Point Island about a mile to the Southward of H.M.S. "Tweed". Master and Crew remained two nights on the rock, suffering severe cold and hunger and relieved by the human exertions of David CHAFE of Petty Harbor. Four men unfortunately perished. (11 Nov.)

VESSELS LOST : Saturday morning the Brig "General Wellesley", Capt. MOTLEY, laden with fish, bound for Spain or Portugal. Leaving this Harbor slightly touched ice and shortly after went down. Same morning the ship "Hope", Capt. BANNER from Greenock, laden with provision, came to anchor in the narrows, swung around on the rocks in changing winds. Crews of both vessels saved. Friday the Brig "Integrity", Capt. PEARSON from Liverpool, laden with salt. Going into Bay Bulls struck ice and immediately went down. Crew saved. (27 May)

SCHOONER CAPTURED: Tuesday morning returning to this Port, the Schooner "Hunter", Captain FERRIS, belonging to Messrs. J & R. BRINE. She sailed the 7th inst. for Sydney and was captured on the 14th off Scatari Island by the American Privateer Schooner "Frolic" and sent in as a cartel. The "Frolic" had taken seven other vessels which she destroyed, among them was the "Jane Gordon" of this Port. She fought the Privateer for two hours and finding all resistance in vain, the Captain and Mate leaped overboard and swan to shore. The Privateer's men landed twenty-four of the prisoners at Sydney and twenty others were put on board the cartel. (19 Aug.)

Supposed to have left the Ship with the Dockard party between one and three p.m., October 13th.
